Philosophy of Ministry

A short history of the Bereans is told in Acts chapter 17. The Apostle Paul and Silas visited the city of Berea and began to share the Gospel with the Bereans. As Paul shared the Gospel beginning in the Old Testament, “…they received the Word with all readiness of mind, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Therefore many of them believed…” (Acts 17:11b-12a). There was an eagerness for the Word of God. The Bible says they were “noble” and “honorable” people.

Likewise, our desire at Berean Baptist Church is to receive God’s Word with a ready mind and grow in knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to share our knowledge of Him with others. The Bible is the foundation for all that we do here at Berean Baptist Church and it is honored above all other sources of wisdom. We come to God’s Word eagerly, expecting great things from it. We do not reject the messages we receive simply because they do not fit our personal agendas or notions. Nor do we accept what is taught simply because the person sharing the message is noteworthy. We search the Scriptures to see if the things we hear are true.

Our goals are to, by God’s grace, glorify the Lord Jesus and walk in a personal relationship with Him, become more and more conformed to the image of Jesus Christ, and to share the love of Christ with others. Our hope is to see many come to know the Lord as their Savior and become Bereans themselves — noble people who love God and His Word.
